So, you want to start streaming? Part 4B (Overlays)

In this post, we will briefly explore overlays.  Overlays go on top of your stream window to give it a bit of flair.  There are many places you can check out to find a pre-made overlay. But I want to talk about creating your own overlays. Twitch broadcasts at a maximum resolution of 1920x1080, which means you can make an overlay that is of a maximum width of 1920 pixels, and a maximum height of 1080 pixels. So, say for example you want to have some text or logo on the top of your stream. If you are using a program such as Photoshop, you just need to make sure that that logo is 1920 pixels wide to span the entire width of your stream, and anywhere from 150 to 300 pixels to give yourself space to make the logo. If you are good with photoshop, you just need to make sure Your imagination is the only limiting factor (that and your Photoshop skills) to what you can create. And again, if you don’t feel like working, there are plenty of pre-made resources to help you with this. In the next post, I will discuss audio setups for those who are using dedicated microphones and headphones.
